We’re proud to have played our part in the SMP Alliance Smart Motorways Programme, delivering works for National Highways under contracts totalling £6.3m over a 5-month period.
As highlighted in the SMP Alliance – Legacy & Learnings (January 2026) publication (linked below), the programme demonstrated what collaborative, outcome-focused delivery can achieve, and DAWSON WAM is pleased to have contributed to that legacy.

During our time on the scheme, we delivered several significant achievements:
• First-ever reuse of sheet piles on a National Highways project, saving 163 tonnes of CO₂e
• Installation of the heaviest sheet piles ever used on a National Highways scheme — 8.7 tonnes each
• Over 28,000 hours worked incident-free, reflecting our uncompromising commitment to health and safety
• Strong contributions to SMP Alliance collaboration, lean construction, and social value objectives.
These outcomes underline the value of true alliance working and the role innovation, safety, and sustainability play in modern infrastructure delivery.
Photos from the works are shared below.
Thank you to the SMP Alliance, National Highways, and all delivery partners, we’re proud to have contributed to a programme that will influence the future of highways delivery.
