Solution
DAWSON-WAM was contracted by EG Carter to design and construct a retaining wall and load bearing piles for a new education facility in Stroud. The steeply sloping site was in an area with a history of landslides so an extensive design was completed by DAWSON-WAM for both permanent and temporary conditions.
A 450mm diameter contiguous wall was designed, achieving TAS approval before being installed.
DAWSON-WAM then undertook installation of a capping beam and bulk excavation before finally completing the installation of load bearing piles from a lower level.
Access to site was via a very tight residential street in the centre of Stroud and great care was taken to ensure residents were affected as little as possible.
