Kent: Northfleet Temporary Bridge
Challenge
DAWSON-WAM designed and installed temporary bridging solutions to facilitate BAM Nuttalls work on the Northfleet Land Raising Project. The project is to import over 250,000 cubic metres of earth excavated from the London Crossrail projects to raise the land to the required levels for flood protection.
Solution
As over 85% of the material was to be transported by barge along the River Thames a bridging solution was required to span from the main quayside to the existing unloading dolphin. A combination of Bailey Bridge and Modular bridge was design and installed due to the presence of an existing flood wall which ran parallel to the quayside.
Result
The bridge has been design to carry fully loaded 40t dump trucks and is expected to be in place for 12 months.
