Offaly: Tullamore Bypass

Challenge

DAWSON-WAM were subcontracted to Grahams to install all the load bearing piles and temporary sheet piling for the Tullamore Bypass road scheme in Co. Offaly. The project involved the construction of five river crossings, a crossing over the Grand Canal, one railway crossing, two underpasses and two further bridges.

Solution

In total DAWSON-WAM installed 164 bearing piles and 800m2 of sheet piling to support the bridge structures in a phased construction process. Each phase required works to be completed over an intense period often under restricted traffic conditions.

Result

These crossings were constructed through a special area of conservation and were completed under strict environmental constraints.
